Zion Lutheran Preschool is proud of its strong and long-standing Preschool Enrichment program.
Preschool may be your child’s first separation from home, the first experience with a peer group, or a first time with an authority figure apart from home. Whatever your child’s case is, he or she will fit right in with Zion Lutheran Preschool. In the cocoon of the preschool, children can grow from a self-centered world of “I” to the world of interactive “we.” Through exploration and inquiry, children learn to solve problems. Through play and activities, they gain social learning experience.
At Zion Lutheran Preschool, PLAY is the child’s work. We provide a variety of play opportunities designed to help your child develop in various ways. Much of children’s motor play is preparation for later cognitive development. With block building, your child will learn about spatial relationships, balance and the power of gravity. In climbing and running, your child will develop motor skills and physical strength. In reading and writing, your child will learn the basics of how letters work and how the world communicates with words.
By taking advantage of the many innovations in early childhood teaching techniques and materials, Zion’s preschool staff offers families a solid foundation for children’s future learning. What’s more, preschool at Zion opens a child’s awareness of their Lord’s world and stirs their curiosity. We make your children eager learners as they approach their Kindergarten and future schooling years.
Eligibility & Schedules
Thank you for your interest in Zion Lutheran Preschool and Daycare! We are so glad you are seriously considering the blessings and benefits of a Christian education for your child. As we remember the greatest love ever given, in the death and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, we realize we are training these children for eternity. We pray that each of you will prayerfully consider the blessing God promises in Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Zion Lutheran Preschool and Daycare is fully licensed with the State of South Dakota Department of Social Services. To be preschool-eligible, a child must have turned 3 years old by September 1 of the current school year. A yearly application fee of $75 is required for each preschool family that enrolls. (See tuition costs for each preschool option below.)
Zion offers three options Preschool classes, as well as a full-time Preschool program:
- Tuesday/Thursday morning Preschool for three-year-olds ($175/mo)
- Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning Preschool for four-year-olds ($205/mo)
- Monday-Friday afternoon Pre-Kindergarten for four- and five-year-olds ($320/mo)
Morning classes are from 8:15 AM–11:15 AM, and afternoon classes run 12 PM–3 PM.
Our full-time Preschool program includes the class above that is most appropriate for your child, along with extended daycare, lunches and snacks. Cost for full-time preschool is $660/mo.
For parents who need a daycare option on just the days their child attends preschool, Zion offers an excellent before and after school care program. Before care is available Monday-Friday from 7-8 a.m. and after care is available from 3-5:30 p.m., at a cost of $5.75 per hour.
